CYCLE ROUTES FROM THE TITE INN
Cycling in the Cotswold by definition means there will be hills, but the rewards make it so worthwhile. Stunning scenery, quiet country lanes, clean air, peace & quiet, the downhill bits and year round sunshine. Okay, not the last one.
Our friends at Cotswold Cycles have put together four routes for you varying from a relatively easy local 14 miler to a more challenging 40 miler taking in Bourton-on-the-Water and the Barringtons. All routes can be sent to your Garmin GPS or saved in other formats and have been specially created to take in beautiful scenery on quiet cycle-friendly roads, avoiding busy roads wherever possible.
If your ride takes you past Cotswold Cycles in Moreton-in-Marsh, feel free to stop at the shop for a free cup of coffee and a mooch around.
ROUTE 1, EASY, 14 MILES
Our first route passes through the centre of Chadlington before exploring nearby villages Spelsbury, Taston, Enstone and Churchill. Some excellent views of Bliss Mill and the rolling landscape of the Cotswolds. Easy ride with some short hills.
ROUTE 3, MODERATE, 30 MILES
Route passes by Knollbury neolithic enclosure shortly after leaving Chadlington. You proceed through Churchill, Kingham and Evenlode to Moreton-in-Marsh. Please take the detour to Cotswold Cycles (who prepared these routes) for chat about cycling in the Cotswolds and a cup of coffee. Back on route you will pass through Todenham, Great Wolford, Barton-on-the-Heath and Long Compton before the climb upto the Rollright Stones. You will return via Great Rollright, Over Norton and Chipping Norton. Moderate route with some early hills with easy middle section before couple more climbs.
ROUTE 4, CHALLENGING, 40 MILES
Route passes by Knollbury neolithic enclosure shortly after leaving Chadlington. You will head south west before dropping down into the Windrush valley. At Sherborne the route turns north and uphill to Burton-on-the-Water and the Rissingtons. You return to Chadlington via Oddington and Cornwell. This a beautiful route passing through some amazing landscapes, it is also a challenging route will the some steep long climbs and rapid descents.
A big Thank You to Cotswold Cycles for preparing these routes for us.
Each route starts and ends at The Tite Inn (where you can park) and has been chosen help build a healthy appetite and thirst for your return!
